Flood-related deaths: When the monsoon spells misery

If the monsoon is awaited with baited breath in India, the floods that sometimes follow often end up wreaking havoc. In the last 64 years, 107,487 people died due to heavy rains and floods across India. This accounts for one-fifth of the total global deaths due to floods. The damage it caused collectively amounts to Rs 365,860 crore.
