US airstrikes kill Qaeda plotter of 2000 USS Cole bombing in Yemen: Pentagon

American airstrikes in Yemen killed a top al-Qaeda leader responsible for the deadly USS Cole bombing in 2000 in which 17 US sailors had lost their lives, the Pentagon said. 17 American sailors were killed in the terrorist attack on the US Navy guided-missile destroyer USS Cole on October 12, 2000, while it was being refuelled in Yemen's Aden harbour.
