Appeals court blocks Alabama execution of Muslim inmate

The 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals granted a stay for Dominique Ray, 42, a day before his scheduled execution for the slaying of a teenager more than two decades ago. The Alabama attorney general's office on Wednesday afternoon asked the US Supreme Court to vacate the stay and let the execution proceed Thursday night.
