Dutch CO2 emissions fall in 2018, still far from 2020 goal

Dutch greenhouse gas emissions in 2018 fell by 2.2% to 189.5 billion kg of carbon dioxide and equivalents helped by lower emissions by power companies. Emissions were down 14.5% from 1990 levels meaning the country is unlikely to meet its Kyoto Protocol goal of a 25 percent reduction by 2020. The Netherlands is proportionately one of Europe's worst greenhouse gas polluters.
