Venice gondoliers dive into murky waters to clean up canals

Venice’s gondoliers in addition to driving boats are now diving into the canals to clean the garbage cluttering up the city’s waterways. Gondoliers have brought to the surface unwanted belongings, from tires and television sets to vintage radios and telephones and since the clean-up operation started in February, they have collected almost 3 tonnes of rubbish.
