Trump picks Conservative icon as RBG’s successor

President Trump is expected to announce the nomination of conservative Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court late on Saturday to fill the seat left open by the passing of the liberal icon, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG). The move is being seen as a transparent effort by Trump to seal a second term in the White House amid clamour from his support base to extend it to “12 more years”.
