New White House press secy is Black & LGBTQ+

The press secretary to the US president typically dispenses news from the White House lectern, but Joe Biden’s new aide is making news. Karine Jean-Pierre, a former chief of staff to Kamala Harris, who was promoted to the post on Thursday, will be the first Black and openly lesbian person to serve as White House press secretary in what is arguably the most diverse administration in US history.
