In wargame exercise, China fails to take Taiwan: US thinktank

The US think tank, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, released a report stating that a Chinese invasion of Taiwan would likely fail if the United States helps defend the island. The report says that every likely direct participant in the war - the United States, China, Taiwan and Japan - would experience "enormous" losses, with Chinese missiles likely destroying US air bases in Japan and as far as Guam, and sinking two US aircraft carriers and between 10 and 20 destroyers and cruisers as the invasion opened.
