Taiwan president in US for visit that has China threatening reprisal

Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen made a stopover in the US en route to Central America, a trip that will trigger an “annoyed and determined” response from China, according to analysts. China regards Taiwan as one of its territories and has threatened “resolute measures to fight back” over a possible meeting between the Taiwanese president and US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
