Singapore to end 180 years of horse racing

Singapore's only racecourse is to close and be redeveloped for housing, bringing an end of more than 180 years of horse racing in the city-state. The final race, the 100th Grand Singapore Gold Cup, will be held in October 2021. The Singapore Turf Club, founded in 1842, said it recognised the need for housing on the land.
