Flash floods rage in Vermont New York; 50 rescued by swift boat

The US Northeast has been hit by flash floods, with roadways washed out and rivers overwhelmed, killing one woman who was swept away in front of her fiancé. Private forecaster AccuWeather estimated damages and economic loss at $3-5bn. Over 1,000 flights to and from airports across the region were delayed or cancelled.
