One in 7 in the US is foreign-born

According to recent statistics from the US Census Board, legal and illegal immigrants make up 13.9% of the US population, a slight increase from the previous year. Indian and Chinese immigrants account for 6% each of total immigration, with the number of Indians increasing by 4.8% and Chinese immigrants increasing by nearly 3%. While Mexicans still have the highest number of immigrants, there was a slight decrease from the previous year. The increase in immigrants from Afghanistan and Venezuela was significant due to asylum seekers and refugees. Experts argue that the increase in immigrant population is relatively low and necessary to address demographic and workforce challenges.
