US officials visit Syria's Deir al Zor in bid to defuse Arab tribal unrest

US officials visited Syria's Deir al Zor province to address an uprising by Arab tribes against Kurdish rule. The Arab tribal backlash has resulted in clashes, with over 150 killed. The Kurdish YPG militia, part of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), is facing its biggest threat since driving out ISIS in 2019. The US officials met with tribal leaders and SDF commanders to de-escalate violence and address grievances.
