Donald Trump ally Steve Bannon faces skeptical court in bid to overturn contempt conviction

Steve Bannon, former senior adviser to Donald Trump, appealed his criminal conviction for defying a subpoena from a congressional panel investigating the Capitol attack. Bannon argued that he did not receive a fair trial because the judge barred him from making arguments central to his defense, including his claim that he did not have to comply with the subpoena due to executive privilege. However, the appeals court appeared skeptical of his argument, noting that much of the information sought by the committee was unrelated to his interactions with Trump.
