Israel seeks to hire 1 lakh Indian migrants to replace Palestinian workers

The Israeli construction industry is seeking permission to hire up to 100,000 Indian labourers to replace Palestinian workers. The sector is facing a labour shortage after work permits for Palestinians were cancelled following recent Hamas attacks. The Israeli Builders Association is negotiating with India, despite its historical support for a two-state solution. In May, India signed an agreement to allow the immigration of 42,000 Indian workers to Israel.
