Man sues New York City for decades of wrongful imprisonment

Recently acquitted Thomas Malik, who endured 27 years of wrongful imprisonment, filed a $50 million lawsuit against New York City and two detectives. His lawyers claim a culture of reckless law enforcement caused him grave psychological damage. Malik's co-defendants Vincent Ellerbe and James Irons also seek compensation. The convictions of all three were overturned last year due to false confessions and unreliable evidence.
