Part of Iran's Damascus consulate flattened, top general killed in air raid

Israeli air strikes in Damascus killed General Mohamad Reza Zahedi, condemned by Iran's foreign minister. The strike targeted a meeting with Palestinian Islamic Jihad leaders. Syrian and Iranian state news agencies reported casualties. The Israeli military declined to comment on the strike, but four Israeli officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, acknowledged that Israel had carried out the attack, targeting Zahedi. They did not confirm that he had been killed.
