Court upholds Imran, wife's jail sentences in illegal-marriage case

A court in Islamabad rejected former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi's appeal to suspend their sentences for violating Islamic marriage laws. They were sentenced to seven years in jail for marrying before Bushra Bibi's iddat period ended. Imran's party condemned the verdict and plans to appeal. Imran, battling multiple charges, remains jailed since August last year.
