Verizon service outage strands thousands of users in 'SOS' mode across US

Verizon faced major outages affecting thousands of users in cities including Chicago and Indianapolis on Monday. Issues began around 9.30am ET and caused over 66,000 outage reports by midday. Verizon is working to resolve it. Meanwhile, AT&T had fewer reports and claims no nationwide issue. Verizon recently announced a $3.3 billion mobile towers deal.
